guest post + cabin beauty

I thought it might be interesting for you to read what it is like being on the other end of the camera. This is Sam’s story:

The story of this shoot is a simple one really. My amazing husband is turning 30 this year and I really wanted to do something different for him. The idea to do a shoot like this had come up before, but I had resisted. I was not keen on the thought of flashing my stuff to a stranger ( is anyone really?). And if I was going to do these pictures I wanted them to look natural and I didn’t want it to feel forced. Enter NJ. The moment I asked, she was on the same page. Soft light, cabin-like, woodsy…girl’s a genius. So after getting a little dolled up with the help of my wonderful friend I nervously trekked down to the beautiful Dolphins Resort…did I mention how BEAUTIFUL Dolphins Resort is???
And as per usual, NJ made me comfortable (even in my skivvies!) and we set to work on the best gift I have ever given my husband…besides our son obviously. The weather was gray, dreary and cold, but it somehow suited the scene perfectly. And as we finished up and closed the door of our temporary home I had to stop and count my blessings. I have some of the most gifted and beautifully souled friends on the planet and I am so grateful that I get to call NJ one of them. And I think my husband is pretty grateful too…

I usually see Sam with her hair tucked back, wearing baby chasing clothes and sporting an adorable baby boy (almost a year old!). So it was lovely seeing her relaxed and feeling the beauty that we all see. I kept the more intimate photos for just her husbands eyes of course.

Also Dolphins Resort is one of my FAVORITE venues for pretty much everything from weddings to a weekend away to Sunday brunch. It is one of my happy places, you should visit there if you have the chance!
