hello + happy dance

This is my very first blog post and I am slightly {very} terrified at the prospect of actually writing anything.
I was the girl who was daydreaming and drawing in class instead of learning grammar and sentence structure…(taking this opportunity to apologize to all of my past English teachers and to my current friends who are English teachers) I didn’t know it at the time, but I loved telling stories.  Just not with words. Luckily someone {my Uncle Ron} put a camera in my hand. And he gave me film. There were many rolls of film dedicated to cows and prairie fields. In high-school I fell in love with the process, spending every available minute in the darkroom.  The anticipation of watching the image appear was every bit as wonderful as releasing that shutter. College allowed me to explore all art forms. Drawing, painting, design, sculpture, animation, 3D design, theory, history and photography. A great platform.

I met and married the love of my life. Life happened and I made a career choice based on my understanding  that I couldn’t make a living creating art. So I worked and gave it my everything. And then our son was born. Oliver Saal. My heart exploded with love and joy pretty much every time I looked at him or thought about him.  He grew every time I blinked, everyday a new memory was created.  I took a billion photos… not wanting to miss a yawn or a stretch or even a big sad cry. Somewhere along this path, my passion for photography and creating art was restored. My creative side project evolved into Bluetree Photography in 2011.

I am hoping to leap/tip-toe out of my comfort zone and embrace the idea of sharing this wonderful journey. Surrounded by incredible support and encouragement… This is now my life.

Insert {happy dance} here. xo nj
